HELP US ENSURE THAT MG WILL ONLY BE A MEMORY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS

When we find a cure for myasthenia gravis (MG), and we will, it won’t be because of any one individual.  It will result from all of us, working together, as a team, for this one purpose. Your contribution of time, talent or treasure will change the lives of all those impacted by myasthenia gravis. Science is costly; research requires substantial funds and we receive no governmental support. We can’t get there without you…please donate or get involved as a volunteer today.

DONATE No matter how big or small the donation, it will be appreciated. Please give generously. There are so many ways to help:

As a...

Board of Director

Board members are the stewards of Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of California, providing
leadership needed to keep us on track by setting policy, insuring sound fiscal management and providing guidance for our organization to continue its important work into the future.

  • Talents Needed - If you have experience in business, law, accounting or an aptitude for fund raising, we have a place for you on our management team.
  • Time Commitment - Meetings are held quarterly at the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of California office, usually about two hours in length.

Fund Raising Volunteer

If you’re creative and imaginative, and can help with innovative special events that break the “boredom barrier,” we need you on our myasthenia gravis team.  We’re looking for volunteers to develop novel, appealing and provocative fund raisers that get participants truly involved, challenged and intrigued. Help us expand our annual black-tie benefit or develop other powerful events that will provide Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of California with solid financial support, colorful publicity and image- making clout.

  • Talents Needed - Enthusiasm with a flare for grant writing or conducting a broad range of extra-special events, from small, informal gatherings to lavish galas.
  • Time Commitment The amount of volunteer time varies based on the fund raising event.

Support Group Leader

Leaders have a diagnosis of myasthenia gravis or are family members of those with the illness. Duties include hosting meetings that encourage peer interaction that empowers people to thrive after a diagnosis of myasthenia gravis.

  • Talents Needed - Empathy and people skills are crucial as well as the ability to organize and conduct efficient meetings.
  • Time Commitment - Meetings are generally held 4 to 6 times per year at hospitals or health care centers in areas throughout California and Nevada.

Office Volunteer

Do you enjoy general office work such as typing, filing, answering telephones or stuffing envelopes? All are duties necessary to keep Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of California an efficient and viable organization.

  • Talents Needed - General administrative or computer skills and a pleasant telephone manner.
  • Time Commitment - Once per week for two to three hours or more time as needed for special projects.

Public Awareness Volunteer

If you enjoy writing or speaking about your unique experiences with myasthenia gravis, or that of a friend, consider volunteering your time to bring visibility for this disease to the general public and to raise awareness about its life-changing aspects.  Write an informative article for your local newspaper or be the featured speaker at philanthropic groups or service organizations within your community.

  • Talents Needed - Creative writing abilities or an engaging personality with effective public speaking skills.
  • Time Commitment The amount of time needed to volunteer is based on each specific awareness project
